The process
Dye houses are hot and humid, with steam and chemical vapour from the machines. Roof extractors and supply fans control the floor, fume extraction serves the chemical stores, and the boiler fan set serves the steam supply.
The gas
Air saturated with moisture from drying, with condensation on any cool surface. Drainage, a shaft seal and a material that tolerates wet running are part of the specification.
Fans in this process
| Duty | What it does here | Type usually selected |
|---|---|---|
| Ventilation Fan | Moves air through a plant or building for fresh air supply, heat removal and fume dilution where the system is ducted. | Backward inclined and forward curved |
| HVAC | Supply, return and exhaust fans for heating, ventilation and air conditioning of plant and office space. | Axial, backward inclined and forward curved |
| Roof Extractor | An axial fan in a weatherproof cowl mounted on an inclined or flat roof, exhausting hot air from the ridge of a factory shed.. | Axial |
| Fume Exhaust System | Hoods, ducting and an exhaust fan that capture fume at source and deliver it to a scrubber, bag filter or stack. | Backward inclined and radial tipped |
| ID Fan | Sits at the outlet of a boiler, kiln or furnace and draws the flue gas through the plant to the stack. | Backward curved, backward inclined and radial tipped |
| FD Fan | Supplies combustion air to a boiler or furnace, pushing ambient air through the air heater and into the windbox against the furnace draft. | Backward curved and backward inclined |
