The process
Powder booths recover overspray through cartridge filters with the extraction fan on the clean side, and the curing oven uses recirculation fans. Pretreatment tanks add fume extraction.
The gas
Ambient air carrying light dust from the surroundings, enough to settle on blades over months but not to erode them. Inlet screens and a wheel that sheds deposit are the usual precautions.
Fans in this process
| Duty | What it does here | Type usually selected |
|---|---|---|
| Dust Collector Fan | The fan behind a bag filter, cyclone or multiclone on a dust extraction system. | Backward inclined and radial tipped |
| Bag Filter Fan | Pulls the process gas through the filter bags and discharges the cleaned gas to the stack. | Backward curved and radial tipped |
| Hot Air Fan | Circulates or supplies air at elevated temperature to a dryer, oven or kiln. | Backward curved and backward inclined |
| Plug Fan | A centrifugal impeller without a scroll, plugged through the wall of an oven, dryer or air handling unit so it recirculates the air inside the chamber. | Backward curved |
| Ventilation Fan | Moves air through a plant or building for fresh air supply, heat removal and fume dilution where the system is ducted. | Backward inclined and forward curved |
